3 Ways to Update Your Wardrobe Pronto! (Three of the best!)

Many nights, too many nights a week Matt will glance over at my computer screen to see what I am inter netting. Usually it's clothes. I have a thing for fashion. I am incredibly good at online shopping. And then not committing to the purchase due to lack of funds on the  old cc. Sigh. It's an age old problem that even Grug the caveman faced. Which fur pelt to wear today? 

So without further ado, I give you three of the best pieces I've found in the last week. Quick ways to update your wardrobe without sending your bank balance into a meltdown. 

1. Faux leather full circle skirt - Sussan $99.95

If you follow me on Instagram you will know I recently purchased some mid-life crisis leather shorts. Well. I am totally addicted to them. I adore them. I want to wear them ALL THE TIME! 

And next in line is this skirt. That cut sits so perfectly, and the fabric (faux leather) makes it current. A great piece to add to your wardrobe - for conquering the boardroom, and then going out to celebrate with some margaritas. Because that's the way I like it. 

2. Spot jacket - Elk $230 

I am not one for being super corporate. In fact, I think I look a bit ridiculous getting suity. Like a parody of me. So this jacket is totally perfect. A relaxed blazer that's totally cool, while being totally presentable. I am totally lusting after it. 

In fact I think it's pretty much THE best jacket I've seen in a very long time. 

3. Somerset boot - JamSquared $299 

I've come to a point where I pretty well don't love wearing heels all the time. Or even much of the time. I am a mad flats fan. 

These handcrafted boots are the perfect neutral in leather and suede, perfect with pretty much anything and everything. I want! 

Work Where? Work Wear!

As anyone who reads my blog would know, I am always on the hunt for some star pieces to add into my work wardrobe.

My attention span of loving my existing wardrobe wanes somewhat, so I need to add something new every now and then. They say variety is the spice of life - and this applies to my wardrobe. Otherwise I stand in my bedroom post-shower looking blankly at my clothes - trying to convince Matt I have nothing to wear. We both know the truth - but you're feeling me, right?

I've found three beauties that would look ace together - and make one heck of a workwear outfit - and work with lots of my existing pieces. 

Elk Drop Crotch Pant $150:: I've had an epiphany people, and you're going to be disgusted in me. The only pants I own are jeans. So they don't count. Post-epiphany, I had a pink fit and found these - I am really big loving them - and think they look ace how Elk have styled them with this top, but would look fab with...

This shirt. I am mad for white shirts - this Witchery OCRF Long sleeve bib shirt ($129.95) has stolen my heart. As we know, I am a firm supporter of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation through Frocktober. Proceeds from this shirt go straight to OCRF. And you get a winning hit to your wardrobe. Winning all 'round! 

And to finish it off - these shoes. 

Habbot - every. single. season. nails it for me. Blue velvet? AYE CARUMBA!! These Lennox Blue velvet flats ($320) are pretty much the icing on the cake. I can't rave enough about these - they are pure poetry on heels. Gimme, gimme!

3 Things I Love (Best Beauty Buys)

It's been a while, but I think it's imperative that I share the beauty love. As we all know, everyone gathered here at this computer screen, I really do love trying new beauty products. I wouldn't say I am a beauty buff, but I am a make-up and cosmetic junkie. I love me some playing with new sparkly things.

We are gathered here today to talk about three things that I am really loving. 

1. Max Factor Excess Volume Extreme Impact Mascara $25.95

Once you've tried one mascara, you've tried them all. Right? WRONG! WRONG! Go directly to Wrongtown.

THIS mascara is ace. ACE! I looked at it and was a little turned off by the double end thing. I am someone who doesn't have time to fuss about around make-up, so I like my products to do their job, do it quickly and do it well.

BUT - one end thickens the lashes, while the other seals the look - and makes them luscious and glossy.

This is super. Duper. Awesome. 

Application is easy and straightforward - and the difference to my lashes is HUGE! So huge you can probably see my lashes from a satellite. I am not even close to lying.

They look so long and thick. I could happily wear this, with some foundation and blush - and BOOM! I am done for the day. 

Try it. I think you'll be pretty chuffed. 

2. Dermalogica Precleanse Wipes $23

I am actually addicted to these. And there is no rehab. Which is fine because they are so ace. Dermalogica has a pre cleanse that comes in a bottle - it's ace too, but these wipes are so easy to throw into your bag - and not have to worry about leakage freakage. 

My cleanser doesn't seem to remove all my make-up, so I sometimes do a double cleanse. However these wipes give you a really beautiful deep cleanse and leaves your skin feeling velvety good. Now I bypass the double cleanse - plus it's really great for removing mascara (see above). 

3. Oral-B Glide Pro-Health $5.99 (I think)

They say it takes 21 days to form a habit, and after having a rap over the knuckles from my dentist, I'm beyond 21 days of flossing. GO ME!

Who wants to talk about flossing? Oh. No one. But let's just pretend this is a private conversation. There used to be this Oral-B floss that I really, really, really loved - it wasn't that plastic-y stuff, it was more like a thread. I loved it. And then it vanished.

No one knows how many stores I visited looking for that damn floss. No one. Seriously. It was like my quest. To no avail, it's gone. I even contemplated writing them a letter to tell them how outraged I was.

Thankfully I found this floss recently. It's now my new favourite. It's good. It isn't like flossing with fishing wire.

I know. Who knew I was ever going to write about floss with such verve. Me neither. But if you're into flossing, or trying to be, then try this, it's not going to slice through your gums like butter. I promise.

Three Of The Best: Cushions To Update Your Home

Three of the best this week brings me into the home. There's no quicker ticket to update your living room than a couple of new cushions to liven things up. There are so many good ones around, to suit whatever personality or style. Our sofas quite dark, so I like to lighten things up using throws and cushions. Plus it means I have a super comfortable sofa (even if Matt hates my multiple cushion palaver).

What's my personal cushion sitch? I have a few different ones - that I rotate around the house. And every so often, I bring a different one home to join the roost. And sometimes I evict them and pass them on to someone else. 

My Bearded Pigeon Antarctica Cushion $55 (cover only): These beautiful organic cotton cushion covers remind me of beautiful watercolours. They make a statement - and with such a great selection of places - you can pretty well choose where you want your cushion to be! It's like GPS for your couch - except you're going nowhere fast, except reaching for the remote. 

Freedom Pops cushion $19.95: We all know my well-documented love of spots and polka dots. It's enduring love. It knows no bounds. And these cushions feel good in hand, and are ridiculously well priced, so you can mix and match colours and have some fun! 

Adairs Mercer + Reid Indigo Dip Dye Cushion $39.95: Shibori is so hot right now, and I've always had a weakness for indigo, so I love this cushion - and can't imagine it ever going out of fashion. You could pile it up with a bunch of other blues, or make it pop with some yellow - can you imagine?!

Three of The Best: Shoes That Take You Anywhere

You threw down the gauntlet, and I've taken it on! I am not the best shoe shopper. Let's be honest, my foot is the size of a hobbit's and I find shoe shopping to be about as happy an experience as having a tooth extracted. GOOD TIMES! But nevertheless, your wish is my command, so I've thrown together some ideas on shoe solutions for work, play, biking, walking, and above all - style and comfort. And I'm not talking Kumfs.

Let it be known, I love Lily Allen's style. Trainers and skirts - make me go mwah mwah mwah. Except on me, it looks like I'm Jerry Seinfeld's little sister. Nevertheless friends, you could look SO DARN CUTE and COOL! Me. Not so much.

Ecco Crisp:: These look cute, comfortable and the tan leather means they go with pretty much everything. Except that black latex catsuit. You'll have to find something else to go with that. These would work with pants and skirts (because, again, I love that look), and the rubber sole means you've got a bit of bounce and cushioning - perfect for walking, riding your bike - and above all robot dancing.

Hype DC Converse Marimekko $79.95:: You would be crazy not to love these Marimekko strawberries. And the designers must be crazy because THEY DIDN'T GO LARGER THAN A 10. ARRRGH! Fools! But heck, if you are blessed with a smaller hoof than I, get them. Get them now. These are uber cool.

Bared Footwear Puffin in Green $229:: Hellz to the yeah! I love a comfortable moccasin - when they're good, they're very good; when they're awesome - they are freaking awesome. These look like the perfect everyday shoe. These, my friends, are your ticket to fast times and supreme shoe envy. Your friends will get green eyes. Totes.

Three of the best:: Patterned Dresses

I'm bringing three of the best back! Why? Because I keep finding things online that - rather than me buying them, I figure I can share them, and have less debt. And you can buy them instead. Hoorah! 

This week it's printed dresses. More to the point, printed frocks you could wear in the office. I am a mad fan of the frock (no kidding huh? Frocktober anyone?!). The ease of getting out of bed, and tossing a frock over your head. No thinking required. It means getting from slumber to spreadsheets is a cinch! Et voila! 

I have a great shift from Sussan that I wear ALL. THE. TIME. I bought it because it's colourful, easy to throw on, and when I'm heading to work, I don't have to think too much. It's a great cut, it's colourful, and the print is mwah - so great. Which is why I really, really love this one. A nice floaty cut, an almost Ken Done like print, and I gotta say, I love that sleeve length, that hem length, it's all good - oh and the price? Hello floral dress.

I've never met a shift dress I didn't like. And this one - well it combines the shift with Fair Isle knit print - and silk. AND it has pockets. I've never met a dress with pockets I didn't like, either. There's so many ways you can accessorise this dress - with all those beautiful colours, you can really go bananas. And the even better thing? It's currently on sale.

Three Of The Best:: Bedlinen

Sleep. It's one of my favourite things to do. Which is why I have a vested interest in bedlinen. I could go really nuts on bedlinen. Really. I love the feel of climbing into fresh bedlinen of a night. It just feels so darn good. But whether it's the crisp hotel bed sheets, flannelette for Winter, or a super soft set that's ideal for Summer, I think your bed needs at least a bit of a wardrobe to switch things up in the boudoir. 

This week I take a look at three of my favourites. Giddy up! 

Fairhaven quilt cover set from Freedom $79.95: Nothing says nautical by nature more to me than navy stripes. Classic style for the boudoir, that mixes and matches so well with stripes, spots, bold colours or neutrals. You could really go nuts with this cotton sateen (super soft) set, I'd be adding some citrus highlights, this velvet cushion and that luxe throw and crawling into bed pronto!

Home Republic Modal Jersey queen quilt cover from Adairs $229.95:: Have you ever slept in jersey bedlinen? It is, I swear, like sleeping in your favourite t-shirt. It's seriously good, and fancier than sleeping in flannelette (one of my favourite things to do mid-Winter, I know, I am mega unsexy). It's so soft, and another excuse to climb into bed early. This modal jersey quilt cover just lifts things to the next level, plus it doesn't crease, so your bed looks fresh and ready around the clock.

The Heath duvet cover (queen) from Citta Design $219:: There's something that appeals to me about this quilt cover. It's like a vintage book illustration, and then it's splashed onto a duvet cover - which means I would have totally excellent dreams. And I love the palette too - dreamlike and dialling up my childhood memories = WINNING!

Three Of The Best:: Flat Shoes For Winter

Every season I scope out the best shoes. In particular, I am always hunting down the best flat shoes, because let's be honest here, the old grey mare, she ain't what she used to be - and I don't want to wear heels to work every day and hobble home. Mainly because no one will give a brass razoo and I'll be left to limp around the house feeling sorry for myself.

So for this very reason flat shoes are my favourites. But I'm not talking clumpy, dumpy, frumpy flats. No siree. I've hand-picked three of my favourites for the season that will have you bang on trend and still feeling super comfortable (but no one needs to know that, ok?).

Habbot Polka Dot in Pale Pink (currently on sale) $190:: When I was small I used to sneak into my Mum's wardrobe and try on these most divine white leather flats. I loved them. I thought I was Minnie Mouse. And this is where I am going with these. I just love them. Those oversized gold embellishments are just the right amount of va-va-voom I need to be a modern day Minnie.

Country Road Delia Slipper $129:: I saw Michelle Jank walk past me today - wearing shoes just like these. If anyone was to give fashion a blessing, Michelle's your girl. Get these on your feet, pronto.

Gorman Spotted Pony Hi Top $189:: Be still my beating heart. I love sneaks. Do not repeat this, but if I could live in sneaks, I would love to. And I'm not talking Jerry Seinfeld sneaks. These sneaks speak to me. In sneak speak. I'm a fluent conversationalist.

Three Of The Best:: Coats

Things are cooling down, I've packed my summer wardrobe away and brought out my winter woollies. I am ready for the big chill.  Bring it on! 

I know. You're sitting there thinking: "What the heck PMM? How can you possibly love winter?"

I do! I defy you! I love rugging up. Well we can talk about that in the thick of the winter of discontent, but for now, roll on tights and scarves. 

I've been schlepping around the interwebs and found three of my favourites for this season.

Bassike Cashmere Coat Black $895:: It's an investment, yes, but cashmere. Cashmere. Ah sweet cashmere. And fully lined with leather sleeves? And that shape and length? YES YES YES! It's a forever coat, classic cut, can't go wrong with black - and it has sass. Those sleeves say: don't mess with me, while the rest of it whispers - I'm hella cool, and definitely don't mess with me. 

Sussan Lady Coat $169.95:: I have this same cut from last year - different fabrication. I am here to tell you - it was worn almost every day of the season because I loved it so much. A really, really great length, and the cut is feminine and flattering. I love the shorter sleeve too - couple it with a bright, or a clashing pattern - et voila. Instant style cred. 

Gorman Untitled Mountain Jacket $299:: Have you ever worn a quilted jacket? It's like wearing a quilt, like wearing a hug, oh man, it feels so damn good. I love this simple, drop shoulder jacket, perfect for layering up - looks good for weekend and office-wear.
