Dear Diary:: It's About Breaking Bad. It's Super Good.

Dear Diary,

I have a confession to make.

Despite being totally behind the eight ball on this, I am totally smitten, obsessed, head over heels for Breaking Bad.

It's super good.

I watch it almost every night, because I am trying to catch up on six seasons. Yes diary. I am that far behind. It's almost embarrassing. It's almost retro. Yo.

But I am out and proud. I love it. So. Damn. Much.

In fact, I think I am turning into Walt White. Except for the illegal stuff. Ok. Except for all of it.

And I've got a mad keen crush on Jesse Pinkman. Except for the illegal bits.

The fact that I love the show so much may be ok to deal with. You can accept me for this obsession, because millions around the world are equally as enamoured by it too.

However tonight, when my husband said: 'I need a break from Breaking Bad' he might as well have ripped out my heart, stomped on it, and then rubbed it on the dirty kitchen floor.

I've got a Breaking Bad crush, and how very dare he get in the way of it.

Now I'm *allegedly* lined up to watch a Benigni film tonight. Can you imagine my despair?

No. Probably not.

What to do dear diary? My husband wants me to break up with Walt and Jesse - I'm now in a love square. Me. Walt. Jesse. Matt. = Awkward.

Think of me tonight, when I am torn from my friends. It's going to be tough, but I'll just sweat it out. Bitch.

Love,
Lexi

Big Fat, Old TVs. All About Recycling Stuff.

Matt and I have been tidying up around our house. It's been happening slowly, and once we open up a space, it feels good. Then it gets re-populated with the kid's toys that sprawl into empty spaces, and, well it has to start all over again.

In the last week we've cleansed our house of the portacot, some clothes that don't fit, some old books - and best of all - the big fat old tv. While everything else went to charity, no one wants a big fat old tv. And I didn't want to toss it out on the side of the road, hoping and praying someone else would either:

a) pick it up thinking it was the score of the century

or

b) let some teenagers smash the TV and then let it sit on our footpath for the next few months.

After some research I discovered that those big fat old tvs are not only a footpath eyesore, not only outdated, and not only big and fat, but they carry 2kgs of lead and other heavy metals. If you toss them in landfill, not only does it overstretch limited capacity, but the toxic contents can leach into the ground.

So I discovered that for a fee of $50 we could recycle our e-waste with a better conscience - as well as removing the space hog from our living room floor. We went to Planet Green Recycling (in Artarmon), but I've since discovered other places that do it. The City of Sydney host e-waste drop off days every three months, and this includes collection of computers, printers, electronic games, CDs, DVDs, cameras and phones (although you can donate your old mobile handsets to YouCan to help raise money for teen and young adult specific cancer wards).

I hate the idea of tossing things into landfill, which I pretty well documented when I went through "the bin" reclaiming someone else's 'stuff' over the course of a couple of months, I'm pretty chuffed we found somewhere to recycle our big fat old tv.

Embarrassing Bodies:: Why? Why? Why?

What happens to people that makes them go on "Embarrassing Bodies"?

I mean, I am all for seeking medical help if you need it, or have any questions, but what makes you go on a global TV show to talk about your body woes?

Talk to me. I really want to know. What makes people do it?

I mean it makes for great viewing for me. But... why?

This is not a sponsored post. I just am curious what brings these people to share this with an audience of millions?

And finally - last but definitely not least - how would you caption this photo?

As Seen On The Voice

Did you see me on The Voice on Sunday night?

Nope. Me neither. I was too busy tweeting and eBaying at the moon.

But one of my ace Twitter buddies sent me this photo.

Being Lara Bingle: Opinions or Assassinators?

So tonight I watched the debut episode of Being Lara Bingle. It was funny and fun. Exactly the type of television I want to watch when I am tired after work. You can shake your head at me all you like, but we all want different things. Right?!

So I tweeted it too.

Afterwards the knives were drawn. 140 characters at 20 paces.

Since when did it become au fait to be nasty?

The snipers were out aiming to shoot her down, just as the paparazzi were ready to shoot her.

And since I am well on my way on the positivity parade, I stood firm. It's not ok to tear shreds off Lara Bingle.

If you don't want to watch it, then don't. Simple really. But you don't have to assassinate someone.

And for the record, I've had the good fortune of working with Lara - many, many years ago. She is just as beautiful now as she was then - and without a speck of make-up. She just glows.

Playschool Flashback: Who Was Your Favourite?

During the late hours, somehow I stumbled upon these Playschool outtakes. Some are very funny. Most in fact. Or maybe I was just delirious.

John was always my favourite on Playschool, with Benita a close second.

The Next Big Thing

Psst! This is my new favourite show. The Next Big Thing. So great. Such an insight into retail.

And love Australia's very own Yasmin Sewell at Liberty's of London (pictured).

Life at 5: Resilience

You know those programs that are so beautifully crafted, that when you see they're coming, you're excited.

The Life Series from ABC is one of those series. I've loved checking in intermittently to see what each of the 11 children profiled was up to. These are such different families with such diverse children, the personalities are amazing - I love watching this program. And it's particularly more apt because the kids are the same age as the Doctor.

There is great joy in the diversity. I can't say enough great things about this show - but if you love an inside glimpse into other lives, and studies about children, The Life Series is fascinating right from the get-go.

Tonight it's back at 8:30pm on ABC1.

You can read more about the series here.

Just Who's Responsible?

Some time ago I lamented that I was almost all caught up with Mad Men, after suffering an addiction to the show and watching back to back eps, much to Matt's disgust. I finally emerged one day after filling up on Peggy, Don and Betsy. I was a free woman.

And then a reader suggested I take up a new hobby and watch 'Secret Diary of a Call Girl'. I resisted for so long. Until this weekend, and now I am up to Series 3 and totally hooked on Billie Piper's luscious face.

Seen it?

Poop Du Jour

So I've been hanging out ALL FLIPPING DAY for Offspring.

Instead it's Commonwealth Games.

Imagine how bitter I am feeling. I was ready. Sitting on the couch with the wee patch. Ready with tea and water in hand(s).

Painful. Channel Ten - I shake my fist at you! I might even be foaming at the mouth. Get a vaccination fast programmer, I'm after you.

Have You Seen This?

One of my all-time favourite friends gave me a copy of the BBC's 'Outnumbered'.

Have you seen it? If you haven't, I demand you RUSH, do not walk, or even run, I say RUSH out and get your filthy mitts on a copy because it is officially HILAIRE!

It's a British comedy about life with kids. It's largely improvised. It's wholly funny. It's spot on. It's ace of base. And I can watch it over and over again. And I command you do too if you know what's good for you.

Baby. Baby. Baby.

I have been loving watching SBS' 'One Born Every Minute'.

I just love anything to do with birth. I'd love to one day be a midwife, but alas, I will wait until my smalls are not so small and I can study full-time.

This program showcases some seriously awesome midwives - so supportive, empowering and genuinely interested in the mums and babies being born - and full of the LOVE!

Every birth brings goosebumps to me - the tension, the nerves, the tears, the frustration, the exhaustion. Those big gutsy pushes. Oh man, I just love it.
You can watch this series online too. Just in case you missed it.

Petition: Please Sign!

I think I will organise a petition to bring back Mr Squiggle.

Who else has awesome blue hair, massive eyelashes and a pencil for a nose? (Right up until the pencil you were
thinking Dame Edna right?).

ABC needs to take a good hard look at themselves. I'd rather watch Mr Squiggle than election coverage. Thanks anyway.

Bring back Mr Squiggle. I love a bit of upside down drawing. (And a grumpy Blackboard.)

Hats Off

Since I had a near riot on my hands yesterday with all two commenters wanting to see the hat block, here it is. Take down your placards girls, I'll put the riot squad back to bed, here it is.

It needs some moisturising. Maybe I'll wax it.

Speaking of waxing heads, George is back from Masterchef. Won't you join me on Twitter for live tweeting?

That was an awesome segue, was it not?

Here's said hat block sporting a panama. That is too small for my head. But it's a beauteous thing.

Tess of the d'Urbervilling

Everyone's a d'Urberville in our family. There's Tiny d'Urberville. Dr d'Urberville. Matt d'Urberville. PottyMouth d'Urberville.
I have officially gone d'Urberville mad.
Did you watch it last night on ABC1? Clearly I did. And got swept up in it. Now I can't wait for next Sunday night.
That Gemma Arterton is a real beauty. I love looking at her beautiful face. She's - wow-bam-boom! Incredible.

In The Grips Of The Gruffalo

If you have small children and you live in Australia, you might well be privy to the fact that The Gruffalo premiered on ABC1 on Monday.

This was most distressing for the Doctor because we were in the car driving home so he would miss it.

Thankfully my Dad volunteered (or did we volunteer him) to tape The Gruffalo for the Doctor's viewing pleasure.

The tape arrived today after much hoo-hah and fanfare. The Doctor tore into that package and has watched it twice already.

The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo's Child and actually a whole bunch of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's books are firm favourites in our house. They're fun to read, the illustrations are fantastic, and the stories are memorable.

The Doctor has put The Gruffalo Pop-Up Theatre Book on his birthday list. If you've not seen this it's a beautiful pop up theatre and the smalls (and bigs) can put on the Gruffalo play. It's complete with each of the animals and a book containing the script. Super cool.
Thanks Dad, I know that video will be well-worn by the time the Doctor is done with it.

Rated R

I watched a show the other night. Actually, I will correct that. I happened to catch part of a show the other night about labia-plasty. It was ABC's 'HUNGRY BEAST'.

Anyway, it was all about how the soft porn industry has to regulate the look of the vulva to meet the standards of the classification board. So what if your labia doesn't meet the standards of the board? You get treated to digital labiaplasty.

You may be wondering why I am concerned about the regulation of the soft porn industry, and truth be, I'm not. But I am concerned about the fact that women are being told another body part must conform, or they should think about getting surgery. And from here I am guessing that this is only going to snowball to become a bigger and bigger issue.

You can read the blog post from Hungry Beast here.

You can read an article from SMH about the growth industry that is designer vaginas here.

Hot? or ...Hot? You Decide

I've been watching My Kitchen Rules. It's not Masterchef but the judges make good eye candy.

But my sisters and I have been arguing. Who is better looking? Who is hot hot hot?

Manu Feildel
or Pete Evans?

My sister is swayed by Manu's French accent. But I can't get past the leather necklace. And now I'm looking at these photos... Hmm, I can't decide. They're both pretty cute. They can both make me dinner.
So YOU decide. This is an incredibly cerebral post (aren't they all?!). Vote now.

Face Off:: David Attenborough VS Maisy

'Tiny, you can watch a few more inches of Maisy, and then I'm putting David Attenborough on.' The Doctor is seriously obsessed with David Attenborough. He invites me onto the couch to watch David Attenborough with him.

But David Attenborough vs Maisy (who is Tiny's favourite super mouse). Who will win?
David might wrangle wild animals. But Maisy is best friends with a crocodile.. If they duked it out, who would win?
I'm putting my shrapnel on David. I think he's super.
