Happy Monday!

Probably the coolest thing you'll ever see all day. And all courtesy of my cousin. Thank you Lis for this rad hook up!

The Perfect Pet?

We don't have the most impeccable record when it comes to pets. Another one of our goldfish died last week. Now we have one lonely goldfish cruising the tank. He's got plenty of room to spread his fins. But it's kind of sad being in the only fish in the tank.

I found this cardboard bunny. Now this is the pet for us. No need to feed.

Whoever the buyer is at Third Drawer Down is one clever bunny. So much good stuff.

The Loooooong Weekend.

You've probably already seen this dude. I posted this a few weeks ago on MumSpace but I love him so much I'm sharing him again. He is incredibly good. Bieber... Bieber.. Who's Bieber?

We've had a big weekend. Not big as in boozy. Big as in, I've been everywhere man, I've been everywhere. I've been to Picton, Thirlmere, Bowral, Appin, Stanwell Park, Turramurra, Wahroonga, Thornleigh, Epping, Hornsby I've been everywhere man.

We took le Boing Boing back to the lady and I completely understimated how emotional that was going to be. The Doctor was sad, his face crumbled when he realised that this was really happening, which of course, set me off to crumble town. We said goodbye to our superficially beautiful bunny and now life feels a bit odd without him... I'm even teary just thinking about is.. Just seeing his hutch is unusually poignant and grey.

Anyway.. How was your weekend? What's up in your 'hood?

The Last Straw

The bad news is this peeps. Nibbles de Boing Boing has not yet been returned and is taking up precious room in the laundry.

You may be wondering what's so precious about the room in our laundry, but when you see me doing Twister-esque moves to get in and out whilst carrying a basket of wet washing, then you'd understand.

But the thing Boing Boing doesn't understand is this.

I walked into the laundry to discover that somehow his mysterious boing boing powers allowed him to pull my NEW AND MY FAVOURITE jeans into his hutch and has nibbled big powerful bunny incisor holes into the front and the back of the leg.

I am not Bon Jovi. I do not wear rips in my jeans. The only way to rectify incisor holes in jeans is to:
a) deem them 'boots-only' jeans and wear my boots Puss-in-Boots style
or b) cut them off Daisy Duke style and scare the neighbours.

Back to the Mysterious Boing Boing. He doesn't understand that I am the only one securing his welfare. I feed him twice a day. I top up his water. Top up his hay. Change his hutch. Try and negotiate a pat here and there sans bitey bites.

And that bugger just ate my favourite jeans. How is this going to fare for Nibbles?

Would They Notice?

Once we finally offload Nibbles de Boing Boing, do you think the kids would notice if I swapped him for this?

Pets Are...

I was always brought up that pets are for life.

I had a cat who I adored. Adored. He was the best cat that ever lived. I still get a bit teary when I think of him. He was an awesome cat. He was more person than cat. I love cats.
I also had a rabbit Flossy. She had babies. Oh how I adored them. When they died I was sad too. I had chickens too. And they went missing. I was sad then too.

So when we bought Nibbles de Boing Boing we thought that he was going to be with us for a long time.

Handbag and high heel eating aside, Nibbles de Boing Boing has been a very, very bad boy.

Despite having him desexed as an attempt to neutralise his menacing behaviour, he's still psycho bunbun.

He growls.
He bites. And draws blood.
He scratches at you if you go near him.

If I only had two words to describe him I'd call him: plum loco.

After much discussion, to-ing and fro-ing, we decided that regardless of the vets advice we could give him monthly shots of progesteron (the pregnancy hormone) that we would take him back to the breeder. We were feeling no love for him after he attacked us countless times.

You might be thinking - but he's a bunny, surely he's harmless, well try telling that to my handbag. Oh I mean headphones. Oh woops, slipped again, the smalls have been bitten and attacked by him so many times that he's almost due for a muzzle. He's mental.

This weekend we're returning him to the country. And that's no code word for the green needle. He really is going back to the breeder who has agreed he sounds a wee bit psycho and that sometimes bunnies can be a little loopy.

I still feel sad. He's a beautiful boy. Superficially. Just personality wise he's lacking. And keeps on attacking.

Have you ever had to return a pet to sender?
Happy Birthday Dad!

Getting Stuffed

Today I had the incredible idea that I would make the smalls a bunny each for Easter. I'd been looking on the internet for colouring-in stencils for kids, and stumbled across the perfect bunny to stitch.

So here is my prototype. Pretty darn wonky, but the Doctor already lays claim to him.

Ignore the dishevelled ear. Ignore the pure wonkiness and uneveness. He could be cute. If you squint your eyes really tight. He could be. And we could be heroes.

The funniest thing is, my mother-in-law misheard me and thought I was making our real-life rabbit a stuffed bunny.. I mean I have done some kooky things, but.. well, I don't even adore the real-life rabbit. He ate my handbag for goodness sakes. He ate my favourite handbag. My handbag that even had its own name (Keith Richards). And the damn rabbit ate it. He's not getting anything from his mate at Easter. Nothin'.

The Baby Straitjacket

Thanks for everyone's great advice and feedback regarding Baby Poocasso.

Today I've put Tiny down for a sleep with a nappy on. With knickers over the top. Wearing overalls.

If this fails, I will definitely try Anonymous' tip of putting the nappy on backwards. I like that idea. I probably should have tried that first. Tomorrow. And I will report back.

But thank you everyone, you've restored my sanity, above all.

And just while everyone is behaving badly, Le Bunbun deserves a special mention.

A couple of weeks ago he went for le snipsnip. We thought he'd come back a changed man-rabbit. Unfortunately his latest favourite thing is to lie on our bed. Last night I went to pick up my favourite bag - which coincidentally is called 'Keith' after Keith Richards. He'd nibbled through a strap.

Four lucky readers of PMM will have the chance to buy their very own rabbit paw necklace later in the week.

Because of the damage Le Bunbun inflicted on my bag, I'm oohing and aahing on this bag. Unfortunately (or maybe the bank is saying, luckily) it's sold out. Bah humbug. After The Apple (former designer at Mimco) have such a beautiful range of bags though, I'm sure I can seek out an alternative.

Making bills choc chips and these biscuits. They are a favourite. I dare you to not eat the whole lot. Tomorrow, recipes for rabbit.

I'm Over Here!

Want more Christmas thoughts? I'm guest blogging over here at Shelley's inspiring blog Femme de Montmartre. If only everything Shelley wrote about me were true.

Just while I'm here, anyone got any experience with feral bunnies (meaning unruly bunnies, not the real feral ones)? Ours is going through puberty and enjoying sexy times with anything he can get his paws on - last night a green balloon. And he's going wild biting us. Not happy Jan. All advice gladly taken.

Now get over to see Shelley and give her a high five and tell her PMM sent you. Go on git!

What's Hot? What's Not?

What's Hot?

- This change in weather? Who likes 38 degree days? Not I, said the little red hen

- Slow days spent with my sister

- There's only one sleep 'til Glee

- The bunny love that abounds. Bun Bun is being mercilessly loved to death

What's Not?
- The rabbit biting my toes. Through my shoes.

- The smalls bickering. It's. Driving. Me. Insane.

- Colours running in the washing machine and ruining my newly thrifted linens

Blogtoberfest Day 10: Welcome Le BunBun

Excuse the poor photo, it's all I could muster. But we're totally smitten with our newest family member. Here at Chez PMM we're thrilled to welcome our new baby bunbun. Just six weeks old and totally adorable. Some predicted it way back when, and, well, we have a pet other than a goldfish. Hear the excitement. Feel the excitement. We are with bunbun!
