Pssst! Got a cute baby? (sp)

I just have to tell you this. After buying a Claire Aristides gift for a very good friend recently, I've become a bit obsessed with her jewellery. Claire's. Not my friend's. Although her jewellery is very beautiful too.

However I got chatting to Claire, which in turn led to the Yo Mama! interview. And me being all crazy in love with her.

If you have a cute baby (man, I wish I did!), you simply must enter your wee one in the Claire Aristides Baby Face competition.

It closes on Monday, so get your snaps in pronto and enter - all you have to do is share a pic on Facebook or Instagram, and hashtag #ClaireAristidesBabyFace #CABabyFace and tag @clairearistidesjewelry.

For more details, head here where you can find the very impressive list of prizes.

Beat The Back To School Blues: LEGO The Hobbit

As we all know, the Doctor is completely addicted to LEGO. Sadly, there's no known cure. Which is fine for him - and for us, because pretty soon he'll have so many LEGO blocks he can build us a house and won't have to live in this tissue box anymore. He's currently saving up for... Even more LEGO.

The Doctor was asked to roadtest some of the LEGO The Hobbit range - and it gets two thumbs up. Well that's if he could tear himself away from constructing it - it's kept him busy, and been a little challenging, but he loves it.

It's got a good level of detail, plenty of pieces to keep him busy, and a good level for him (he's 7.5). He is looking forward to collect the lot. And then promptly (fingers crossed) make a hut (that's a bit taller) like the one Bilbo lives in, except with a bit more space for me to live in. Ok. I can dream.

Anyway, you can dream too - because - drum roll puh-lease:

LEGO is giving two lucky people the chance to win a LEGO The Hobbit prize pack each one valued at $69.98. Each pack consists of Riddles for the Ring and LEGO Games The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey!

LEGO Games: The Hobbit™: An Unexpected Journey RRP $49.99
In the iconic Shire town of Hobbiton, the Dwarves are gathering ready for the quest to regain their gold, but 10 of them have gotten lost in Hobbiton. Gandalf, Gloin, Fili and Kili must find the other 10 Dwarves before the journey can begin. Aim of the game: find the most missing Dwarves using memory and a bit of luck!

Riddles for The Ring RRP $19.99
On the shores of an underground lake beneath the Misty Mountains, Bilbo Baggins™, armed with Sting, discovers a magic ring that was recently lost by the creature Gollum™. Use the reveal function to take the golden Ring! But beware – only Gollum, aboard his boat of Goblin skin and bones, knows the way out. Can our Hobbit hero solve the riddles asked by Gollum and escape to freedom with the Ring before Gollum realises it’s gone? Includes 2 minifigures; Gollum and Bilbo Baggins.

If you'd like to enter - it's super simple, please leave a comment below telling me what's your PRECIOUS?

Terms & Conditions:
Entries are open from Friday 8th February until midnight Thursday 14th February.
Winners will be announced Friday 15th February.
Competition only open to Australian residents (sorry!).

Why Tiny Loves LEGO Friends:: A Giveaway

Tiny has a little star chart. Every time she does something ace, she gets a star. When she gets 10 stars, she gets a reward. Tiny gets so darn excited about her star chart, it's hard to kerb her enthusiasm! So last week, when she reached 10 stars, it coincided with our day together.

I took Tiny to the shop to choose what her reward would be. Sounds scary, but Tiny is pretty conservative when choosing something she likes, and she had already told me she wanted something from LEGO Friends. And so it was, on that particular Girls Day that Tiny chose Stephanie's Outdoor Bakery

We came home and sat on the couch and put it together, Tiny's getting really good at LEGO under the watchful eye of the LEGO afficionado, the Doctor. What a little whizz.

Tiny is mad about LEGO Friends - and loves mixing the regular LEGO pieces to add extra bits and pieces. She's grown quite a collection - however she's currently missing Stephanie's hair *gasp*. And they are all kept together in MY Tupperware. Grrr. But heck. At least their hair is secure.

So dear reader, it's with excitement that I let you in on a little secret. I have five LEGO Friends prize packs to giveaway. How's that timing just before Christmas?!

Each prize pack includes:
- 1 x Andrea's Bunny House (RRP $15.99) - this is SUPER cute, we can recreate our bunny fun without the fear of being bitten - hooray!
- 1 x Mia's Bedroom (RRP $15.99) - what girl doesn't want her own drum kit - I love this and Mia even has a tidy room - way to go Mia!
Each pack is valued at $32.

To enter, all you have to do is perform a triple backflip from pike position, a quadruple somersault mid-air, and finish off with a great big belly flop - and then a drum solo.

Or you could comment on this post and tell me if you were a LEGO Friend, how would you keep your hair on?

Terms & conditions:
- There are five prize packs for five winners - each valued at $32. Total prize pool is $160.
- All winners MUST be contactable via email. If I can not contact you, I can not send you the prize. Funny that. I will announce via my blog and Facebook. I do not have ESP.
- Open to Australian residents only (sorry dudes)
- Competition is open from Wednesday 21st November at 6:59am until Tuesday 27th November at 11:59am.

*  This is not a sponsored post. It's just a very nice collab to say thank you to my awesome readers, from PMM and LEGO.

COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED. Winners to be announced on Thursday 29th November. Thank you!

Three Is A Magic Number

The competition is over - the winner is drawn, and it's true what they say - three IS indeed a magic number.

Lucky Brenda from Mira Narnie takes the showcase and will enjoy three seasons of Offspring - plus the soundtrack. And she might even develop a crush on soulful and skittish Jimmy with the sparkly eyes. Anything is possible.

Congratulations Brenda - and thank you to every single one of you who entered and made it such a fun competition.

You ladies are so fickle.

Poor Dr Chris Havel never stood a chance.

LEGO LEGO LEGO: And It's the School Holidays

What better way to celebrate the school holidays than with one of our favourite, most enduring toys of all time, LEGO!

These holidays have seen the Doctor madly reading Harry Potter, and falling in love with the characters and the magic. Next stop he wants to read Lord of the Rings. He's already started saving his pocket money for the biggest set of LEGO Lord of the Rings imaginable.

I've never been much for mystical fantasy - however with a seven year old who is crazy for it, I can't help but go along for the ride. I am hooked!

So if you have a like-minded small child who would be keen for some sweet Lord of the Rings LEGO action, this is for you!

You could win 1 of 5 LEGO Lord of the Rings Prize Packs including:

Shelob Attacks RRP $39.99

Gandalf Arrives RRP $22.99

To enter, all you have to do is tell me in 25 words or less if you were the Lord or Lady of something - what would it be? And why?

Horrid Henry School Holidays Giveaway

Have you ever read Francesa Simon's Horrid Henry books? Well. Maybe not you, but your kids?

They are very, very good. The Doctor adores them. They are funny, and clever - and just what little people like. Humour that's totally read-able, a little bit of mischief and a few illustrations tossed in.

But did you know they made a film of Horrid Henry? Just like the books, it is super good - and stars the ever-beautiful Angelica Huston, the cerebral and stylish Richard E. Grant. It's a great film - and Tiny loves it (she's four), just as the Doctor does (he's seven) just as Matt and I both do (we're in our 30s).

The good news is I have a Horrid Henry giveaway. One that's perfect for the Winter school holidays.

There will be two winners. One winner will receive the Horrid Henry DVD and a hard cover activity book. The runner up will receive one copy of the HH DVD.
All you have to do to enter is tell me in 25 words or less (and I am strict so I don't get into trouble with the law):

What was so horrid about you when you were small?

---------------------------------
Open to Australian residents only
Entries are open from Saturday 30th June 2012 - winners will be announced on the PottyMouthMama Facebook page on Wednesday 4th July 2012.
You must be easily contactable.
There will be no disputes, no arguing and strictly no haggling over the winners.
PottyMouthMama is the judge of all entries.
PS - I love you.

Now My Dad Is The Deputy Editor

Since Sunday things have happened at PottyMouthMama. For one thing, I've appointed my Dad as Deputy Editor. Welcome aboard Dad!

Last night on his list of jobs as PottyMouthGrandpapa he had to judge the four winners of the LEGO competition. So without further ado, here are the winners, as hand-selected by my Dad. With Mum's help of course:

Christina Lowry:
I love LEGO. It's like a school lesson for my son without him noticing. Math, architecture, atoms, colours, shapes etc. It's all there in the humble LEGO block.

Cindy:
I love LEGO because age doesn't matter and no one can be wrong.

Dancing In the Rain:
Inheritance! My girls love playing with hubby's childhood LEGO?!? The love of 'Barbie' combined with the love of LEGO - head spinning with excitement!!

Carolyn Booty (I have some booty to send you):
I love how LEGO inspires imagination.
I love it's interchangeability and timelessness.
I love the priceless memories it provides and provokes from generation to generation.

Thank you to everyone for entering the LEGO competition!

There's No Better Way To Start A Week:: LEGO Giveaway

The Doctor and Tiny were ridiculously delighted to come home last week, after a long slog at school to discover a LEGO parcel for them.

Mama was delighted too - because the afternoon activity was completely taken care of.

We live, eat and breathe LEGO. Doctors may warn against this eating and breathing LEGO, but it's a way of life for us. And what's not to love?

The Doctor spends hours putting together LEGO kits, saves up his pocket money and Tooth Fairy money to save up for LEGO kits. LEGO LEGO LEGO. He wants to work at LEGO Land when he's big - and though he'll have to move to Denmark, he'll still come and visit me in holidays - so he says.

Yesterday Tiny busted out her Duplo and they had a LEGO 'expression session*' together, with their cousin Phoebe, building freestyle creations. It's pretty fun. And if I hadn't torn the house apart in an attempt to tidy it - I would have plonked myself right down next to them and created with them.

To celebrate everything good that is LEGO, LEGO have given me two sets of each of the below kits to give away to four completely, absolutely lucky people:
From one of the Doctor's favourite sets LEGO City:
Police Dog Van $49.99

The forest policeman has followed the robber to the cave where he’s stashed the stolen goods. It's time to release the dogs and lock him in the back of the police dog van before he gets up to any more mischief! Includes 2 minifigures: forest policeman and a robber.

From the new LEGO Friends range:
City Park Café $49.99

Andrea works at the City Park Café and loves dishing out tasty treats, when she is not singing into her broom and daydreaming of her big performance (I am clearly Andrea's kindred spirit). It’s the perfect place in Heartlake City for all of the LEGO Friends to meet for milkshakes and burgers or to chill and have fun! You can bake goodies for the girls in the café kitchen, complete with everything you need to serve up café cuisine instyle! Then hang in the outdoor dining area and have a milkshake in the sun! Order up a sweet snack, serve the customers and pay with LEGO money bricks!Includes 2 mini-doll figures: Andrea and Marie.

All you have to do is tell me in 25 words or less why you love LEGO for your chance to win.

Four winners will be drawn next Monday 1st April - no joking.Winners will be announced on PottyMouthMama as well as being contacted.
Please ensure you include your email address.
Competition open to Australian residents only. Sorry international peeps.

EDIT:: Entries are now closed. Winners will be announced this afternoon. Thank you!

Handmade Revolution:: Special Giveaway

I'm pretty excited to learn about the Powerhouse Discovery Centre at Castle Hill. I didn't know something so cool existed - and just a stone's throw from me.

To amp up the cool, they're hosting UK contemporary artist and designer, Shane Waltener, to create an amazing, awe-inspiring outdoor art installation titled 'Outdoor Weave In' at the Discovery Centre's Open Day on Saturday 13th August.

But that is not all folks. As part of the Handmade Revolution program there's so much on - and I am sure there's something to pique your fancy: weaving, spinning, bobbin lace demonstrations, and activities for children including paper lace and mini rag-rug making - oh my!

The good news for YOU - dear reader, is that I have 10 family passes to give away. Tell me what you like doing with your smalls that is part of your very own handmade revolution. Lego? Playdough? Sandplay? Do tell!

To enter:

- comment (25 words or less)

- must be an Australian resident

- enter before Friday 5th August at 11:59pm

- winners will be contacted on Saturday and announced on pottymouthmama

I'm Coming Up Empty Handed

Due to the lockdown that is life at the moment, we're stuck at home with the Doctor and his croup, Tiny and her snotties, me and my sinuses, I am in fear I have nothing, NOTHING to share. It's a bad old day when you have nothing of value to share, isn't it sausages? Oh yes!

So what to report... I'm twiddling my thumbs folks.

* I love the new Sia album (not to be confused with the Safety Institute of Australia - although I'm sure they're quite good too)
* I love the new Angus & Julia Stone album
* I have drunk three cups of tea today, with another on the way
* I have picked up countless crumpled tissues today (gee thanks kids)
* I have refereed countless wrestling matches between the smalls today
* I am going to watch the Young Victoria today. Or maybe Mad Men. But something. Because Glee isn't on
* I haven't organised dinner yet due to confinement
* I have mopped the floors
* I am up to date in the laundry
* The kids are in the bath at 4:00pm. The Doctor is crying because a) it has bubbles (which I thought he'd like tonight and b) Tiny kicked him. AGAIN.
* We have a very large old wardrobe currently eating all the room in our living room because we have nowhere else to put it. What to do with it folks?

On a more exciting front..

Check out Meet Me At Mikes for the Medina MumSpace giveaway. You must be in it to win it. (And for more chances to win a night at the Medina of your choice, head over to MumSpace - fo' realz).

And if you're looking for something absolutely, infinitely more interesting than this post, I might suggest this to you.

The Good News Is... A Giveaway

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to run a brand spanking new giveaway. Buyster Lighting is giving one lucky reader the opportunity to win a voucher for $130 to spend on a new light or lamp of your choice.

Lighting has the power to really make or break a room. I'm always trawling blogs and decorating magazines looking for inspiration, the addition of a lamp can really boost the mood (and who doesn't love a bit of mood lighting? or some tricky up-lighting to take ten years off?).

And who wouldn't love to rub a lamp and have a genie appear? Come on, I know you want to, but what would your three wishes be? Hmmm.. Chocolate to be calorie free? Weekends and weekdays to switch (2 days of work, 5 days of weekend)? Rabbits not to bite? (Just to save you time, Buyster Lighting don't have any genie lamps in stock at the moment, maybe after Christmas.)

And here you are my friend wondering how to enter?
So easy all you have to do is answer this question:

What's been one of your big lightbulb moments? (mine is always changing, but lately, it's that personal success is not just one single thing, it's ever-evolving).
Competition will close next Wednesday 4th November and is only open to Australian readers. Sorry to my international readers. I still love you.

I'm In A Competition: A Relay. By. My. Self.

This thing is tough. I'm throwing water on myself. Puffing. Panting. I'm wearing my tracky daks and feeling like I need to tear them off. I am getting that sweaty (and now you know why there's a sweaty man above - that's what I searched for - but I'm not a man - you know?). I can't even talk. I can't even type. I'm bent over, half breathing, half dying.

Here's the question ladies (and any gents that happen to be innocent bystanders): Is blogging a competitive sport?

I feel like I am back at high school and I am trailing way behind. Let it be known, I never excelled at school sport. In fact, during one PE lesson, we were playing la crosse, I cricked my neck and couldn't continue to play. I told my English teacher that my neck hurt and I felt sick. She thought (well she knew I was such a scammer) that I was just trying to get out of the debate I was involved in. Truth be, as soon as that debate was over, I went home, was promptly booked in to the GP who referred me to the physio, who promptly prescribed me bed rest and Valium. Valium does not equal me faking it methinks. It hurt like heck and my muscles were spasming. The moral here is folks, don't punish the PottyMouth.

Anyway, blogging. Competitive sports. Playing games. Sometimes I feel like, you know, are you guys for real? I mean, anonymous nasty commenters - they're just trying to make themselves feel better by taking an OD of nasssty.

I need to tell you now, I am no good at competitive sports. I played netball when I was younger. I was always muchos taller than the other gals, and always got pulled up because of my height. It caused great frustration. And then I just quit.

So some days are diamonds, some days I think.. Why am I doing this? What is this for? It's like the meaning of life. WHY?

One of my bloggy mates questioned this the other day, and I summed it up for myself. I've got nothing to sell. I blog because I like writing. I love writing in fact. I need my blog as a discipline, otherwise I don't write. That makes for very sad, very savage PMM.

Even if you do have something to sell, doesn't mean it takes anything away from your blog. It's about you writing for you. For the record I was wearing short shorts and my favourite pair of spikes, plus a fluoro pink sweatband.

No matter what, you can't deny, there is competition in the blogging world. I for one have to tell you, I find it a little strange. Everyone has an opinion, it's not a popularity competition peeps. There's room for everyone. Write what you want. Write when you want. Don't worry about whether you have a cheer squad. Don't worry if you don't have the right gear. Just write. Post photos. Talk about your favourite music. If you have an opinion, no matter what it is, someone will dig it, somewhere in the world, someone else feels the same way.

Another reason I blog is because when I had my first child I never joined a Mother's Group. My Mother's Group was hideous. And then some. That too was competitive. I didn't dig on it. I stepped back and stayed at home. I was already insecure. I'd just had a baby at 25. My body had completely changed. My boyfriend (now husband) - what was he thinking of me? I was sleep deprived, cranky, my body had changed, I had changed, we had a baby. There is enough insecurity from the every day without having to survive the petri dish that was the Mother's Group. I am still Mother's Group-less 'til this day. So blogging for me, was kind of like being part of a community, but more so like my own little journal. Something. Just. For. Me.

So sweaty girls. And guys. No need to sweat the small stuff. Blog or no blog. You are loved. By someone somewhere. You are great. You do ace things. Believe it. It's not a race to the finish line.

It's not a competition. It's my blog.

Knit-Wit

I'm about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime. I'm going to learn to knit. While I do know how to knit, I don't know how to cast on (my Mum and sister have always got me started). I am a very talented knitter - I can go from starting with 30 stitches, and wind up with 61. Takes a talent, kind of like making something out of nothing, right?

So this weekend, I'm going to learn to knit. Well start to learn how to knit. Good and proper. So I can make more than a scarf (that gets thicker as the knitting continues).

And how good is this? I won a super good giveaway on Knot Sew Crafty (that Alexis sure knows how to put together a kicking fun-pack - will you marry me?) - and what should arrive as part of the goodies? Two balls of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran. Delicious!

And speaking of winners, three winners have been drawn for the Georgie Love Bouncin' Birthday giveaway by the random number generator. I can't do screen grabs, but here are the lucky punters:

- JessicaNeale

Please email me with your addresses and I will post your prizes out ASAP! I will have the Doctor randomly draw the prizes out lucky dip stylie.

PottyMouthMama's Dunce's Cap

I'm going to sit in the corner. I've done a silly thing. But surely I can't be to blame, can I?

You see the Doctor has a cough that would rival a seal's bark. I'm just waiting for him to learn how to balance a ball on his nose then I'll take him off to Taronga Zoo. He really does like fish too. So the Doctor was up 'til 11:30pm last night, bouncing in bed, monitoring what I was doing, wide eyed and wide awake. Surely it's illegal for three and a half year olds to be awake so late?

I was also excited for another reason, a sleepless tossing and turning reason, you know when excitement makes your mind keep dreaming (but awake dreaming).

And then this morning I woke up super early (I am usually a nine hours of sleep kind of girl) and lay awake trying to will myself back to sleep, but I'd had a creepy dream about a high school sweetheart. EEK!

Anyway - my bad - I forgot to draw the winners of the Kimya Dawson CDs. Sorry folks. Sorry for those sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for the draw. Then since I forgot, probably lying on the edge of their bed restless with anticipation!

Enough. Here are the six winners:

Katie from We Heart Books loved 'The Rainbow Connection' (check out Debbie Harry - her face actually moves!) or the entire score from 'The Sound of Music'
Just Jess wanted to live in a 'Yellow Submarine'
Nomes rocked out to 'it's still rock and roll to me' (Oh Billy, that jacket, that tie, that BIG HAIR!)
Ellieboo liked singing to 'Funky Gibbon' (please check out their hot overalls. phwoar. which one would you date?)
Cindy from Bug and Pop thought that it's 'Not Easy Being Green'
Christie from Pigeon Pair could also be heard singing along to 'The Rainbow Connection' (I think Christie will like this new version or perhaps she's more a Willie fan. I know I am. Oh get your mind out of the gutter. I'm talking Willie Nelson. Shame on you!

Gals, please email me your postal addresses and I'll get the CDs out to you real soon. For reals.

I wish I had a CD for everyone. For reals. Please come back and play the PottyMouthMama lotto in January. I'll put together a little something and take it global this time.

And thanks to PopFrenzy for the CDs. Big ups to ya.

Finally, one of my favourite songs as a small fry was the very same as The Bird Bath's. I used to put my parents records on and go all crazy legs and dance to this song. What's the appeal? Any opportunity to pop the Depp-ster on my blog, I'll take, thank you and goodbye.

Look At Me Go!

I've been stitching up a storm - I'm loving this new rhythm. Maybe it's the sick me that allows me to stitch. Most of the time I'm running around like a blue-bottomed fly, but the sick me lies on the couch stitching and falling in love all over again with Gilbert Blythe. You try and tell me you're not a sucker for this classic.
See my colouring in? Well I was only going to do a few petals, however, once I started, that gentle rhythm took over and now that I look at it... Well I think it would look like I'd just been a little lax with my stitching and couldn't be bothered. And my friends - that would never do. Onward stitching soldier.
Matt tells me it's starting to take shape like a stained glass window. I love this. I love stained glass windows (there's nothing like that perfect hue of blue bright and bold with sunshine bursting through - take a look when next you're inside a church).
Anyway - I know I've piqued your memory - go on, here you go.
PS - If you haven't already - enter my Kimya Dawson giveaway. You don't have to have a blog - just a way for me to contact you. Don't be shy!

Get Your 'Butt Over Here: Giveaway - Kimya Dawson & Friends

So I told you a while ago that I'd be running a giveaway. You might have been thinking, yes, well we'll see what she wants to give us. Maybe you thought it was going to be a banana skin from the bin? Perhaps that creepy little Laura Palmer doll that has now taken up residence at my sister's house (though she doesn't yet know it)?

Nope. You're wrong. Wrong. Wrong again.

This is such an exciting giveaway.

My good friend over at Popfrenzy has given me six copies of Kimya Dawson's: Alphabutt.
If you don't know about Kimya Dawson, well you really should. She's super good. Clever. Witty. A funny, talented, guitar strumming chick. Perhaps you recognise her name from this movie?
Alphabutt is a great mix of songs to please your smalls and make them laugh (and yourself - hey I listen to it all the time).
****************
For a chance to win one of the six CDs please leave a comment on this post. In your comment please tell me what your favourite song was when you were small.
Mine - Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite. Well I had many, but this one always made my imagination go wild.
I'll be drawing the winners on Tuesday 2nd December. Plenty of time for you to enter, yes? Alas my dear readers, this is for Australian readers only (sorry).
*******************
Psssst! Pop on over to Popfrenzy for plenty more musical inspiration - you might just get some cool Christmas ideas.
