Frocktober 2014:: Day 30 - It is easy being green (BirdsNest)

I can't even begin to tell you how frocking tired I am. Exhausted even. 

Frocking up doesn't sound like a lot, but there's the planning, the learning new hair and make-up, the social media-ing late at night. I am totally pooped. 

Thankfully I had this maxi from Birdnest to throw on. Seriously. A saving grace. 

A casual classic, it's great belted, or if you prefer things breezier, leave it loose. Either way, it's super comfortable and the oversized shape works well on lots of body types. 

Now let's carefully think of this. There's only ONE more day of Frocktober to go. 

That's one more day of me banging on about it. You might be relieved, well I am more relieved-er. I was looking forward to a sleep in on Saturday until I realised we had swimming first thing in the morning. And by first thing I mean we have to leave the house by 7:45am.

Cue the world's smallest violin.

By the way, if you haven't already donated to Frocktober to help kick ovarian cancer to the kerb, you still have time! Go here now - every amount is brilliant. 

The OCRF is not government funded, and with one Australian woman dying every 10 hours from ovarian cancer, it's the aim to find an early detection test to help change that figure.

The Reading Group:: Where'd You Go, Bernadette

I am ashamed to say  - it's been a long time between books. A long time. Yes I read 'The Happiness Project', but that almost doesn't count because it was a project and not somewhere to get lost in another world. It was great though - it IS great even, and I totally recommend reading it. 

'Where'd You Go Bernadette' is a real page turner. It's light, it's intelligent, it's funny - it's actually laugh out loud funny. It's a really successful epistolary novel that brings in lots of different perspectives, narratives and voices to create the enchanting novel. The patchwork style of the story shows the messy, confusing nature of life, it's real, it's raw, and it's crazy good.  

Bernadette is the brilliant protagonist - she's smart as a whip, talented as all get-up, and kooky as they come. The story focusses on Bernadette and her misfit family life in Seattle. 

I absolutely, positively, definitely recommend it. 

I give it 4.5 stars (out of a possible 5 - that's like Olympic standard).

It's not every day I tell you about prawns. Or tea towels. And happily, today I am combining both subjects into one happy blog post. 

This - enchanted reader, is probably the best tea towel you're ever going to see. 

Ok. Big call. But I am a bit of a tea towel lover. I love a good tea towel. I hate a crummy tea towel. Don't go the raw prawn on me. This is a keeper!

Or it could be a giver, because it would make a totally great hostess gifts (do you guys give these, because I give these because I think it's fun!) or Christmas gift. Heck - Kris Kringle just got cool!

Favourite Find:: Nancybird Morton Flats

Recently I've discovered that I need a few more pairs of flats in my wardrobe. It was after a particularly rainy (read: sodding wet) week when I ruined my favourite ballet flats and had to toss them in a bin while I was still in the city that I had this epiphany.

Cue Nancybird's super cool Morton flats.

Could they be any cooler? Nope. Doubt it. I can imagine these with a 50s style skirt or dress - or some rolled up jeans, they're a pretty versatile wardrobe addition. And those shoelaces (can you believe I am excited about shoelaces?!) - squeeeee!!

I'm also totally into the rubber sole - that to me says giddy up - this is comfortable. And cute. Ridiculously cute.

The only bad thing about this shoe? It doesn't come in my size (cue the world's smallest violin).

Holy guacamole. Not since forever have I coveted a pair of shoes. Being endowed with rather generously long and ridiculously narrow feet, I can confidently say - I'm not a woman that loves shoe shopping.

Did anyone get to see the LEGO in real life in Martin Place last week? How great does it look? I'd love it if it stayed there all the time. It's such a fun pop of colour in the bleak city-scape. And how great walking past that every day to work.

The Coolest Collab Ever

Plip Plop POP!

There I was, whining (in my head) about how hot it was all of a sudden. No easing in of a new season. No. Just BOOM! Summer arrived. And way too fast. But I was coping. I was down with it.

And now this? Sydney. Make up your flipping mind. I've packed away my Winter woollies on a really hot day, I've embraced Summer. But nope, we're back into grey, wet and cold.

At least there are these Gina and May umbrellas. You can't beat a pop of colour when it's grey and miserable.

In other news, I'm sick again. That's not rad is it? I am so super flipping sick of being sick. So I've been lying low all weekend, and I mean that, I've been getting horizontal on the couch for most of it. Poor smalls must be so bored of me.

Have you seen this book? Aye carumba. I have house envy to the max.

I thought The Selby was top of the pops. Well he is, let's face it. But Design Sponge has me salivating. I may even throw some of my stuff out. Some may call it junk. I call it stuff. It's feasible that it could be stuff. It's stuff from other people's bins.

But whatever you want to call it, get your filthy doggone mitts on this book. You will not regret it. Mark my words homegirls!

Skater's Dream House

Did you ever draw dream houses when you were a kid? I did. I spent hours drawing floor plans, a really big bedroom, an indoor swimming pool - and by indoor, I mean it was in the heart of the home, large wardrobe, big kitchen, probably a spa, all the bells and whistles. I loved drawing those little floor plans in multi-coloured textas. A wannabe architect.

Well imagine my glee this morning when I stumbled upon this ace house - the PAS House. Everything in the house is skate-able. The walls. The furniture. The whole kit and kaboodle. But you can only skate in there if you're a pro-skater. The PAS House is only a full-scale model of one room of the house, but I'm already saving my pennies.

When the Doctor's bigger, I think we'll invest in this home (ahem). I can imagine teenage boys digging on this idea. Heck, I dig on this idea. Uber cool!

I want Janelle Monae's hair. And her style. I want to get her dance on. She's pretty cool and cute. Stylish and sassy. Me likey!

I could probably almost just have a new baby so I could pimp it out in the new Bugaboo and Missoni collab. I mean this thing is so hot I'd like to ride in it. Could there be a sweeter ride? I seriously doubt it peeps. And as if they needed to further seal the deal, this beautiful Bugaboo comes with a matching Missoni blanket. Got to start 'em young peeps.

Long Time Love

Oh gosh I love Andre Benjamin. He's the coolest cat, with a smile that's miles wide - he's effervescent, he's a visionary, he owns his style, he's a zeitgeist, he's all sorts of awesome and I just have to love him.
I love these banana yellow pants. I am going to be a big cheesy fan and say, oh Andre - I salute you!

And Hey Ya - yeah I totes know it is an oldie, but it's a goodie. I can't tire of this song. It might even make cleaning the house bearable. Andre, can you do that?
